have walked 3 miles with my dad the past 2 mornings.  Out and walking by 6:30 both mornings.  Also took the dogs along, which was fine, but I do think that it slows the walk since the dogs want to sniff and stop and wander around rather than walking a straight line.  Not sure how long the walk took either morning but about an hour.  No walk tomorrow.

Last week we started walking at an earlier time.  What a difference 30 minutes makes in the temperature.  The sun is just a little lower and you don't have it shining down on you at all.   The time change makes it better for some and worse for others.  Eventually the time will need to be adjusted for the winter, but not for quite a while yet.

Rain and other things

Catching up with entries today.  Always try to look at the weather radar in the morning to check on rain.  Wednesday morning it looked like any rain would be some place else. We got soaked walking but nearby there wasn't any rain at all.  So much for relying on radar.

walk & talk

I started writing this to keep track of my own progress, but I will also post what the little group I walk with is trying to do 5 or more days a week.
1 Walk 2 or more miles as quickly as possible
2 After walking we do so strength exercises, modified push ups and tricep dips, planks, step ups on the curb and up hill lunges for those who have enough energy.
3 Stretches for arms and legs and torso.
As we progress I will try to add pictures of different exercises.
Spent many years teaching fitness classes of various types in upstate New York and am tryin to get back into group exercise.
Monday. 6 of us walking this morning.  Fast walk and step after, with upper body workout.  I have dropped a couple of pounds as well.  Getting much warmer in the morning, which means either fewer clothes or earlier time frame.

Cycling and Sunday off

Saturday morning, we rode bikes about 5 miles in Old Settlers Park, and nearby.
An interview with Billie Jean King quoted her mother telling her, "You have to keep moving or it's all over," and included her exercise regiem that she tries to maintain at 70 in spite of a heavy travel schedule.  Get up and move, even if it nothing more that dusting or taking out the trash.  If you are moving, it is all good.
Sunday is mostly a day off except for a bit off gardening and weeding.

Second day of posting to the blog.
One more new walker today.   It is great that we have such a diverse group in age and levels of fitness.
Strength and stretching at the end really makes a difference.
Planning a short bike ride tomorrow for a few of us.

Online walking journal

After a slow start this spring due to bad weather, Round Rock New Neighbors Walk &Talk got off the ground in February.  I hope that this will be a guide and inspiration to others,  Here are some members of our little band from March this year.  We had been walking for about a month at this point.
